Customer Review: Just Right
This 'no-name' is just as comfortable as the popular $400 GPA. It's low profile, fits well, is light, and is affordable! I love mine. I was skeptical at first b/c I'd never heard of it, but don't be put off. I think the GPA helmets just haven't figured out they don't have a corner on the market anymore and still think they can charge $400.

Due to the rough nature of ice hockey, women are not thought of as hockey players, in general. But these days, a large number of women are engaging in this sport. Because of this, a new line of protective gears has been designed and released for women. Most of the equipment is still the same except for some that are designed solely for the women's needs.

The breast plate

The breasts are very sensitive parts of a woman's body. The slightest bump on them could cause pain or discomfort to a woman. A few hockey equipment companies have released a kind of chest plate which is designed not only to protect this area but also to keep the woman comfortable. Certain modifications such as adding pockets in the breast area have been added in order to keep the player comfy while wearing the breast plate. This kind of women's gear also includes a fully padded chest cushion to provide more breast protection.

Elbow pads and shin guards

Manufacturers have now released a new kind of elbow pads and shin guards designed to fit the women players. Before, the women also used the men's protective gear but they tended to be too big, too uncomfortable, or too restrictive to wear. With these new pads and guards, women can now move easily and play better.

Jock and Jill

Male goaltenders wear a jock straps or a "goal jock" to protect their crotch area from unexpected puck impacts. Just like the men, women goaltenders now wear the same kind of gear to protect their crotch area. Aptly called goal jill, this also protects the women from getting hit by a hockey puck in the midsection.
